For the last 5 days Bing, the new Decision/Search Engine from Microsoft, has made it’s rounds on all the typical media outlets and many people have tried it out. But what is really surprising is that Google is feeling threatened by Bing and rightly so.

Today for the first time in a long time Yahoo is in 3rd place according to StatCounter and Bing has taken the coveted 2nd place. Most of Bing’s market share appears to be taken from Google and I am sure that does not make them happy. Maybe Microsoft does not need to worry about buying Yahoo anymore.

UPDATE 6/8/2009: It looks like bing’s 2nd position was just a fluke. Over the weekend they fell back to 3rd place at 6.04% of the market share. As time progresses I am sure that the competition will help to kick both Google and Yahoo into gear making their products better.

Check It Out> TechCrunch, Bing

Despite my being a little critical of Microsoft sometimes I like to give them a very fair chance to prove themselves. As part of that I have decided to change all of my Internet searching over to the new Microsoft Search engine “Bing”. It’s official date if launch is still 2 days away but is available now in many parts of the world.

Bing is Microsoft’s latest attempt to grab a larger portion of the Search Engine market. At this point it appears as if it is more than a re-branded “Live.com” even though Live now redirects to Bing.com. There are many subtle changes and a few bing ones that actually make Bing very usable and an upgrade to Google.

One of my favorite new features is the search history bar on the left side of the page. It can be very useful when you search multiple times for the same things. There is also a very unobtrusive page preview option that is easy to use and shows a nice summary of the pages content. This is much better when compared to the random paragraph that Google displays.

Even if you are in love with Google now is a good time to try Bing.
