At the beginning of December Brian Chen of Wired magazine posted a video podcast to his blog  on how to install a hacked copy of OSX Leopard on to a MSI Wind Netbook.  Accompanying the podcast were full directions and links to tools needed to accomplish the installation.

While it was probably just a brief mental relapse this can be pretty damaging for any companies reputation as well as Brian’s career.

While the details are not fully available it appears as if Apple sent Wired a cease and desist order as opposed to full legal action but either way the message was clear that Apple wanted the tutorial taken down. Yesterday the videos started disappearing from YouTube and the Wired site.  Today in place of the original podcast is a video about the big trends at CES this year.

The textual instructions are still on the site but I am assuming it is only a mater of time until those are removed as well.  Hopefully Mr. Chen is able to stay with Wired and keep blogging.  I have always been a fan of the Gadget Lab and would hate to see any of their writers leave.
