Malware is always on the increase regardless of security companies trying everything they can to stop it. One of the newest methods of “delivery” is YouTube videos with links to malware infected websites.
Video annotations can be a helpful feature for some videos (personally I find them annoying) but malware distributors are loving them. They are embedding links to their websites where a user upon loading the page gets infected. The same group that is responsible for malware link tagging in videos has also been spamming Digg with malware links in comments and articles.
Of course the best way to avoid things like this is using common sense and if you don’t know what something is or where it goes don’t click on it. The biggest way people are tricked into infecting their computers is via downloads for things like codecs to make videos play. Unless you are getting that codec from a major site like Adobe it’s best not to install it.
