win7bsod_02

Pretty much everyone that has used a Windows operating system is familiar with the Blue Screen Of Death (BSOD).  The BSOD in Windows 7 is the same as with Vista and all of the Windows OS’es that preceded them.  We all know that it sucks.  It’s boring and provides little data to help the average Windows user.

To help spice things up a little bit Gizmodo’s Photoshop contest of the week is to design a new BSOD for Windows.

For this week’s Photoshop Contest, I want you to come up with a fantastic new BSOD for Microsoft to include in their upcoming OS. Now take note, this is a redesign, not a rewriting. Any entries that are a blue screen with white text will be thrown out. Seriously, I don’t need to sort through 500 BSODs with the text changed to “Should have bought a Mac. LOL!” Think outside the box here, people.

Send your masterpieces of crashiness to me at [email protected] with “Redesigned BSOD” in the subject line. Save your files as a JPG, PNG or GIF, and use a FirstnameLastname.jpg naming convention, using whatever name you want to be credited as. Send in your entries by next Tuesday morning, and I’ll through them and pick the winners and put the best of the rest in our Gallery of Champions. Get to it!

Maybe this type of feedback will persuade Microsoft to thrown in a new BSOD for the final release of Windows 7.   Doubtful but still possible.
