In less than a week there is a second widely reported trojan for Apple computers.  This one is infecting machines via the same method as the previous, a pirated application on torrent sites.  This time the trojan is a “crack” for Adobe Photoshop CS4 which gets full power when you input in your admin account information.

OSX.Trojan.iServices.B Trojan Horse as reported by Intego (which also reported the other Mac trojan last week) is difficult to detect because it changes it’s name each time the machine is rebooted.  The trojan is communicating to remote servers and allowing the user on the other end to remotely access the computer.  As of yesterday more than 5,000 people had downloaded the crack and that number is continuing to rise.

Mac users are particularly vulnerable to this type of trojan because they have a false sense of security and think that only Windows computers get infected.  Spyware applications that have recently been made for Mac computers look very genuine as malware writers are attempting to capitalize on Mac users inexperience.  The next year will be an interesting one for Apple users at the rate malware is being introduced for them.
