Foty,
Like the utility, but it has already been done. Check out http://www.thewindowsclub.com/create-a-system-restore-point-in-1-click-with-quick-restore-maker

I use it alot and it works the same. I would like to see some of your other stuff.

Shawn :)

It is actually because of that utility (and a couple others) that I decided to make my own. I like to be able to name my restore points as well as choose whether or not they are created automatically.

Another big reason is that I needed an option (for my day job at Microsoft) that I could guarantee was not open source or going to cause problems with licensing. So this one is freeware and actually states it in the license :)

I sent The Restore Point Creator to my USB-stick, which is not accessible any more. It says now format stick to read it.

I wish I could help you out but typically when that happens it indicates that you have a failing flash drive. Did you drop it recently? Did it receive a static electric shock?

jdocNo Gravatar Said,

nice program, can you burn a copy of the restore point to cd then run it to repair a system fail?

snahNo Gravatar Said,

Nice and simple. The only thing I’m missing is an additional option (checkbox) to close the application after the restore point has been created. The option “auto-close after 5 seconds” is not very usefull in my opinion. I would also apreciate an animated signal showing that the restore point is working – the fix message is not very visible.
But altogether : thanks for the job

Actually, windowsclub restoremaker is as wimpy as it sounds. TRPC at least allows to enter restore point name, So sys admin can date-comment each point. Unfortunately, TRPC is not working for Windows 8. Anand got his restoremaker patched into Windows 8 reall quick, so you can make dozens of restore points with the identical name. Let’s hope TRPC gets updated for Windows 8. For now, TRPC is the only respectable interface.

I am working on making it compatible with Windows 8 and should have a version out in the next couple of week. Life just has a tendency to suck up my time :)

TRPC has been updated and now includes support for Windows 8. http:///utilities/updated-the-restore-point-creator-now-with-windows-8-support/

I’ve configured via Administrator Tools > Task Scheduler > System Restore, to create system restore points every hour stating at 9am today. However, when I look at the list of restore points made (under right click on My Computer > Properties > System Protection > selecting relevant drive (either C or D) and clicking on the System Restore button above the drive list > click Next ) I see the most recent were ones I created yesterday; nothing dated today. Clicking on ‘show more restore points’ results in one additional restore point showing, from last year. I have edited the scheduling to start at 11 am today, and repeat every hour. I have also un-ticked the Idle and Power optics ticked by default. It says in Task Scheduler that it last ran at 7pm today, with the last run result being (0×0) [which I assume no issue at all]. Also: With this setting enabled will it create restore points for both C and D drives (both drives system protection on)? Running Windows 8 Pro 64-bit.
